Illyrian Tribes And Their Extension

In the vast territory of Illyria lived more than 70 tribes.Particular groups of Illyrian tribes was placed in the Apennine peninsula.The main Illyrian tribes were:


 Enchele - they created the first state Illyrian at the end of the fifth century B.C. Their territory extended around Lake Ohrid.Their main center was Enkelana city.They were known as the master fisherman .
  
Taulantii - lie in the area of the Adriatic Sea , in the territory between rivers Vjosa and Mati ( in today's Albania ).Through the centuries VI - III . B.C This tribe was the main center of Illyria .

Dardania - has been among the largest Illyrian tribes.They were tribal groups Grabaei - Thunthe smaller tribes were in dardani.Dardans lie in the central Balkans mainly in the territory of today's Kosovo.Their center was the city Damastion.They referred to as cattleman , mining but the brave warrior . 

Desarets - lived in East Illyria near Lake Ohrid known cities of this Pelioni mentioned tribe , and Antipatrea.Dessert recognized as the best farmers and especially for the production ofcereals.

Albania - a small Illyrian tribe who lived near the city Kruja.Their capitals wasAlbanopolis.This tribe was notvery famous.But this tribe Albanians in the Middle Agestook the name and were calledAlban , Arber.

Ardiaei - this tribe moved from their original centers that was the sucking of Rizonit and the river Neretva .then extending south.In all the territories that were previously under the rule of Taulantia .Ardiana the role played especially during the great wars against the Roman invaders III and II centuries B.C.During the rule of the dynasty ardiana Illyrian state witnessed a rapid development and became an important factorin the Adriatic Sea.Ardiana center was the city of Shkodra 
Dalmatae - lived on the Adriatic coast between requirements and Cetinje that today . their main center was Delmini.Dalmatians were known as the best cattleman and wool processing of flax of which make their characteristic clothing.Tribe is also known for their resistance and rebellions against the powerful Roman 

Liburnian - lie north of cerkes ( Slovenia ) along the Adriatic coast.They have been known to the skilled sailors.Liburnia , fast combat ship who took the name of liburnian has been known in ancient timeseven the Romans adopted and made ​​part of their fleet.

Pannonian - for this tribe had earlier thought that was a Thracian tribe.Illyrian tribe that lived in the upper valley of the Vardar a neighborly with Dardans to the river Struma.In the first half of the fourth century B.C established their kingdom .For a long time they resisted Macedonian attacks.Through the centuries IV - III B.C they cut their silver coins.


Molossians - lived in southern Illyria.Respectively in ancient Epirus.Molossians were one of the three most important tribes of that region.This tribe played a major role in the creation of the state of Epirus.

Kaon - the tribe that lived in Epirus extended to a wider space from river thyamios to Drinos.Their capitals was Phoinike.

Thesprotia - and this tribe lived in Epirus.The historical written sources mention that the IV century B.C.This tribe is known for their reigns mainly by 2 leader.In Illyria have lived other  tribes recognizedas Pirustae , Labeates , Narensi etc. .
